Olivia Is Still Amoureuse

When Olivia Newton-John first sang "Amoureuse" back in 1974--a song written and made popular in French by singer/songwriter Véronique Sanson--most fans were left breathless.  Her breathy cocals and the haunting lyrics were simply mesmerazing.  Who can ever forget Olivia's guest spot on teh Nana Mouskouri Show back in 74 when she literally blew the audience away with her rendition of the song (see video clip below). Well, thirty five years later, Olivia has re-recorded "Amoureuse"--this time as a duet with Elaine Paige (realeased on the Elaine Paige and Friends CD in Nov 2010) Here is Olivia performing "Amoureuse" back in 1974 on the Nana Mouskouri Show, followed by a promo of her updated version of "Amoureuse" with Elaine Paige Olivia Newton-John - Amoureuse Uploaded by cantalou7301 . - See the latest featured music videos.

Legend Olivia Newton-John returns to musicals after 30 years

Legend Olivia Newton-John returns to musicals after 30 years Richard Crouse 14 October 2010 06:35 Getting to act alongside her friend Marc Jordan, left, helped convince Olivia Newton-John to take the role in Score: A Hockey Musical. Although she sang with John Travolta in Grease, danced with Gene Kelly in Xanadu and recently featured her hit Let’s Get Physical on Glee, Olivia Newton-John hasn’t appeared in a full-on musical on the big screen for 30 years. That will change this weekend when she will be seen playing an overprotective hockey mom in Score: A Hockey Musical. Director Michael McGowan wanted Newton-John, but didn’t think he’d be able to get the Australian superstar, who now makes her home in Florida, to come north to shoot the film. “She’s funny and she doesn’t take herself seriously,” he said, “but for her to say, ‘This is the film, a hockey musical shot in Toronto, in February, seemed virtually impossible.” When asked why chose to do this film, Newton-John laughed and said,...

Interview with Olivia in Luxury Las Vegas Magazine/Site

http://luxurylv.com/2010/10/up-close-and-personal/7165 With Olivia Newton-John By   by Marsala Rypka October 2010 Ever since “Grease” became the musical blockbuster hit of 1978, fans have been hopelessly devoted to Olivia Newton-John. She immortalized the part of Sandy Olsson, the goody-two-shoes-girl-next-door, who trades in her wholesome “Sandra Dee” image for some skintight spandex pants, red peep-toe heels, an off-the-shoulder top, teased hair, and horror-of-horrors, a cigarette, in order to win the heart of Danny Zuko, the leather-clad leader of the T-Birds gang, played by John Travolta. In 1980, the English-born, Australian-raised singer/songwriter/actress starred in another film, “Xanadu,” which included her No. 1 chartbuster “Magic.” The four-time Grammy winner has sold more than 100 million records and had 15 Top 10 singles which include “Let Me Be There,” “I Honestly Love You,” “Have You Ever Been Mellow” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” “Magic,” and “Physical.” Over the ye...

Great Review of Olivia's Latest Album on Napster Blog

Image
Olivia Newton-John, Grace and Gratitude Renewed Olivia Newton-John is best know for starring in films like Grease and Xanadu and for her chart-topping pop songs in the '70s and '80s, including her biggest hit, "Physical," which came out in 1981 and was #1 for 10 weeks. So with her new album, Grace and Gratitude Renewed, (a reworking of the relaxation- and health-minded Grace and Gratitude, from 2006), as with her work for some time now, it's safe to say she's gone from "Physical" to metaphysical. But lame jokes aside, this is nothing short of wonderful: Newton-John, an 18-year breast cancer survivor, or "thriver," as she likes to call it, aims to aid the healing process with serene, calming vocal and instrumental arrangements. Newton-John's songs draw from many different belief systems, ranging from Judaic and Islamic prayers, Tibetan chants, and Catholic poems. Co-written and produced by fellow actress and musician Amy Sky, the two foc...

Olivia's dream takes shape in Heidelberg!

Image
Thanks to Susanna Klemmer for reporting on this. WITH a touch of Dr Strangelove, the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre in Heidelberg is beginning to take shape. One of the most important parts of the $186 million facility, the bunkers that will house the state-of-the-art linear accelerators that will blast cancer with radiation, are almost completed. Professor Chris Hamilton, who heads up the radiation and oncology unit, said the four bunkers and the accelerators - worth $4 million each - would allow more patients to be treated. “It looks a bit like a big CAT scanner and can direct a beam directly at the tumour without affecting surrounding healthy tissue,” Prof Hamilton said. “It will be used to help cure cancer and to relieve the pain and symptoms associated with cancer.” The machines, which emit powerful beams of radiation, have to be sealed in specially-designed bunkers at the base of the centre. “There needs to be a lot of protection because we don’t want the X-ray leak...

New 'Glee' music: Hear Jane Lynch and Olivia Newton-John cover 'Physical'

New 'Glee' music: Hear Jane Lynch and Olivia Newton-John cover 'Physical' by  Tim Stack We’ve already heard Sue Sylvester (the phenomenal Jane Lynch)  tackle Madonna’s classic “Vogue.”  But now the Cheerios coach is dueting with another blonde pop diva: Olivia Newton-John. The  Grease  star makes an appearance in next week’s episode of  Glee , entitled “Bad Reputation,” and records a new version of her hit  “Physical”  with Sue. And how does this surprising collaboration come about? Well, Sue is embarrassed when a video of her Jazzercising is leaked and Newton-John comes to her rescue. Says Lynch, “She gives me a call and says ‘Let’s remake the “Physical” video for a new generation. You’ve been humiliated, I was humiliated by my video, so let’s get out there and redeem ourselves.’” Lynch adds that working with the singer was a dream. “We had a little dance rehearsal and then we spent the whole day together,” says the actress. “She’s just a w...
