After suspicions that Olivia Newton John's ex-boyfriend Patrick McDermott faked his own death, private detectives have found conclusive proof that he is alive and well!
McDermott disappeared after a night fishing trip in California and breaking up with Olivia after nine years! But the P.I.s claimed last January that was living off the coast of Mexico in a sailboat.
McDermott's lawyers have said, "Mr. McDermott's wishes, according to his counsel, is not to be 'hounded' any longer by investigators or the media."
He allegedly faked his own death to escape death and make sure his son profited from his $100,000 life insurance policy
The mystery over the disappearance of Olivia Newton-John's ex-boyfriend has deepened with reports he sent detectives voice recordings so they would back off.
Patrick McDermott was feared drowned after he vanished off a fishing boat off the coast of California in 2005, but last year the Herald Sun claimed he was living in a tiny Mexican village.
Despite McDermott having never been seen since his disappearance, investigators have closed their case as they believe they have him cornered.
Last night unnamed sources told the paper McDermott, 48, sent voice recordings to detectives as a part of a pact requiring them to leave him alone.
McDermott has reportedly been in contact with lead investigator Phil Klein for some time, sending him forms of identification via an anonymous representative, believed to be a man claiming to be McDermott's lawyer.
Mr Klein, who is writing a book about the hunt for McDermott, would not release the recordings but told the newspaper he had stopped looking for him.
Last April Olivia Newton-John told the Australian Women's Weekly she would always be traumatised over the loss of McDermott, who she was with for nine years before he broke up with her the day before he vanished.
"I think there will always be a question mark," she told the AWW.
"Even though the US Coast Guard has closed the case and considers him missing at sea, I don't think I will ever really be at peace with it."
